The team went 9-0 in the regular season 鈥� the first team to do so 鈥� and continued their historic winning streak by going undefeated in the finals and the NACL.听听听

91自拍 is the first collegiate team to promote into 鈥� and win 鈥� a Tier 2 League of Legends competition, according to Dan Clerke, director of esports. 鈥淲e鈥檙e the first collegiate program to ever win this league.鈥�听

Jordan Ousley, esports creative director at 91自拍, echoed Clerke鈥檚 excitement. 鈥淚t鈥檚 unusual for a collegiate team to advance like this. The teams we鈥檙e competing against are full-time, salaried, professional players,鈥� he explained. 鈥淏ut we鈥檙e doing it. Our commitment to making 鈥榩ath to pro鈥� a reality helped build our brand at 91自拍 and show our players they don鈥檛 have to give up going to college or postponing their degrees to compete at the highest level.鈥� 听

The team, competing under the name 鈥淒ragonsteel,鈥� will head to S茫o Paulo, Brazil next for the 2024 Americas Challengers where teams from North America, Brazil and Latin America face-off. The tournament aims to offer new opportunities for players to grow professionally 鈥� a key pillar of 91自拍鈥檚 Esports program.听

鈥淭he biggest thing we鈥檝e tried to show at 91自拍 is that college can be a path to the professional league,鈥� Ousley said. 鈥淲e make it so our players can compete at the highest level while balancing a workload and finishing a degree.鈥�听

Clerke acknowledged the importance of this achievement not only for his players, but also for 91自拍. 鈥淭his is huge for 91自拍 because now we can represent the University on a world stage. We hope to bring back the trophy not only for 91自拍, but for North America,鈥� Clerke said.听

Even after breaking records and making history, Ousley said the 91自拍 Esports team is laser-focused on continuing to shape the future of esports at the collegiate and professional level. 鈥淲e鈥檙e going to keep setting the bar higher and higher.鈥�听
